Picking a frame for your face shape
The right frame doesn't change your face — it balances it. Here's how to choose.
There is one rule underneath all the advice you will read: contrast wins. A frame works when its shape does the opposite of your face shape.
Round face
Angular frames — rectangle, square, geometric — add definition along the cheek and jaw.
Square or angular face
Round and oval frames soften a strong jawline. Rimless works well here too.
Oval face
Almost anything sits well. Use it as licence to pick on colour and material instead.
Heart-shaped face
Wider at the forehead, narrower at the chin. Cateye and pilot shapes balance that out by carrying weight low.
The part people skip
Frame width matters more than frame shape. The frame should be about as wide as your face at the temples — no wider. A beautiful frame in the wrong width always looks borrowed.
